Read in French

My words

This shelf holds two kinds of French reading. Short Reads are notes, notices and small scenes from daily life, written for learners at A1 to B1 and finished in one to three minutes, with questions to check what you understood. The novels are the real thing, unabridged: Jules Verne, Maurice Leblanc's gentleman thief Arsène Lupin, Edmond About, Alain-Fournier, Flaubert and Zola, at estimated B2 and C1 levels.

Each novel is split into parts of about ten minutes. You can listen to the French read aloud and follow each sentence as it goes, tap a word to see what it means in context, and save words for review later. If the novels feel far off, the Short Reads are the bridge: start with the A1 notes and work up.
