İhtiyaçla karşılaştırmak
Too ve enough, bir niteliği ya da miktarı bir ihtiyaçla, bir beklentiyle karşılaştırır. Too “gereğinden fazla” anlamına gelir ve olumsuz bir sonuç ima eder; enough “yeterince” anlamına gelir ve ihtiyacın karşılandığını söyler. Türkçede “çok sıcak” ile “fazla sıcak” arasındaki farka benzer: too, bir şeyin sorun yaratacak kadar fazla olduğunu söyler.
Too'nun kalıpları
Too'nun kalıpları: too + sıfat ya da zarf (The coffee is too hot to drink, He was driving too fast), too much + sayılamayan isim (There is too much sugar in this cake), too many + sayılabilen çoğul isim (There are too many cars on this street).
Enough'un yeri
Enough'un kalıpları ise kelime sırası bakımından özeldir. Sıfat ve zarflarla enough arkadan gelir: The room is warm enough, She ran fast enough to catch the bus. İsimlerle enough önden gelir: Do we have enough chairs? There is enough water for everyone.

Not enough yetersizlik bildirir: The soup isn't hot enough, yani çorba soğuk. Too'nun etkilediği kişiyi söylemek için for + kişi eklenir: The jacket is too small for me. Aynı yapı bir fiille de devam edebilir: The box was too heavy for her to lift. Bu durumda cümlenin sonuna nesneyi tekrar eden bir zamir eklenmez: “too heavy for her to lift it” denmez.
