    (1) Edatı öne almak: günlük dilde edat cümleciğin sonunda kalır (the framework we work within), resmi dilde ise ilgi zamirinin önüne geçer: the framework within which we work. Edatın arkasından yalnızca which (eşyalar için) ve whom (insanlar için) gelebilir: the colleague with whom I share an office.

  3. Of which ve of whom

    (2) Miktar bildiren kelimelerle of which ve of whom: some, many, most, all, both, none, neither, two gibi kelimeler bir grubun bir kısmını seçer. She presented three solutions, none of which proved workable. They interviewed twelve candidates, two of whom had doctorates. Türkçede bunu iki ayrı cümleyle ya da “bunlardan hiçbiri” diyerek söyleriz; İngilizcede tek bir cümleye bağlanır.

  4. Bütün cümleye gönderme

  5. Kısaltılmış cümlecik

    (4) Kısaltılmış relative clause: tanımlayıcı cümlecik, ilgi zamiri ve be düşürülerek bir participle öbeğine indirilebilir: The documents that belong to this file → The documents belonging to this file; The report that was published last week → The report published last week.

At B2, the form often changes the focus: agent, emphasis, register, implication, or stance.

3. Watch compressed clauses

Advanced English often removes repeated subjects and auxiliaries.

Decision path before answering

Use these checks before choosing between close options.

  1. 1Mark the subject, main verb, object, and any connector.
  2. 2Underline the time expression or discourse clue.
  3. 3Reject any option with the wrong agreement, tense, article, pronoun case, or word order.
  4. 4Read the whole sentence once more for naturalness and register.

Contrasts that often decide the answer

Event or background

Simple forms move events forward; continuous forms show an action in progress.

I left while she was talking.

Fact or stance

Modals, hedges, and reporting structures show how certain or responsible the speaker sounds.

This may indicate a problem.

Clause or compressed phrase

Advanced writing often compresses full clauses into participle, noun, or prepositional phrases.

Having reviewed the data, we revised the plan.
