Mixed conditional
(1) Mixed conditional koşul ile sonucu farklı zamanlara yerleştirir. En sık görülen tür, geçmişteki hayali bir koşulu bugünkü hayali bir sonuca bağlar: If I had accepted that offer in London, I would live in England today. Koşul past perfect ile, sonuç would + yalın fiil ile kurulur. Ters yöndeki tür, kalıcı bir özelliği geçmişteki bir sonuca bağlar: If she weren't so stubborn, she would have apologized yesterday. Burada koşul bugün de geçerli bir özelliktir, sonuç ise geçmiştedir.
If'siz devrik yapı
(2) Resmi dilde if düşürülüp yardımcı fiil öne alınır: If we had known yerine Had we known, If you were to accept yerine Were you to accept, If you should need help yerine Should you need help. Bu yapılar özellikle resmi yazışmalarda ve raporlarda görülür.
Başka koşul bağlaçları
(3) Koşul başka bağlaçlarla da verilebilir: provided that ve as long as (… şartıyla), on condition that (… koşuluyla), assuming that (… varsayarsak), suppose ve supposing (farz et ki). But for ve without ise olumsuz bir koşulu tek bir isim öbeğiyle verir: But for her quick action, the project would have failed, yani o hızlı davranmasaydı.

Advanced English often removes repeated subjects and auxiliaries.

Conditional patterns
Read both halves. The result clause often tells you which condition pattern is needed.

Contrasts that often decide the answer
Event or background
Simple forms move events forward; continuous forms show an action in progress.
I left while she was talking.
Fact or stance
Modals, hedges, and reporting structures show how certain or responsible the speaker sounds.
This may indicate a problem.
Clause or compressed phrase
Advanced writing often compresses full clauses into participle, noun, or prepositional phrases.
Having reviewed the data, we revised the plan.

Unless gerçek dışı ya da gerçeğe aykırı bir koşulda if not yerine geçemez: If I hadn't missed the bus, I would have been on time doğru; aynı cümle unless ile kurulamaz. Provided that ve as long as'ten sonra, if'te olduğu gibi, gelecek anlamı olsa bile will gelmez: You can borrow the car as long as you bring it back by six.
