Question tags

Question tag (eklenti soru), bir ifadeyi bir teyide dönüştürür ve bağlandığı ifadeyi aynalar. Burada olumlu → olumsuz tag kuralını, yardımcı fiil seçimini ve aren't I istisnasını çalışırsın.

Hızlı Öğren

Question tag bir ifadeyi bir teyide çevirir ve bağlandığı ifadeyi aynalar.

Aklında tut

  • Olumlu ifade olumsuz tag alır, olumsuz olumlu alır: you're coming, aren't you.
  • Tag, ifadenin yardımcı fiilini yeniden kullanır; yoksa do ödünç alır.
  • Tag'deki zamir, ifadenin öznesiyle eşleşir.

Örnekler

  1. 1You have lived in this coastal city for several years, haven't you?
  2. 2David works as an electrical engineer at the local power plant, doesn't he?

Kaçınılması Gereken Yaygın Tuzak

I am, aren't I alır; bu, dilin geri kalanındaki aynayı bozar ve ezberlenmesi gerekir.

Kural

  1. Değişen “değil mi?”

Question tag, bir cümlenin sonuna eklenen kısa sorudur ve bir bilgiyi teyit etmek ya da karşıdakinin onayını almak için kullanılır. Türkçede aynı işi “değil mi?” görür, ama “değil mi?” hiç değişmez; İngilizcede ise tag cümleye göre değişir.

  2. Zıt kutup

Temel kural zıt kutuptur: olumlu cümleye olumsuz tag, olumsuz cümleye olumlu tag gelir. You are from Canada, aren't you? David works in finance, doesn't he? You aren't tired, are you? She doesn't eat seafood, does she?

  3. Yardımcı fiil tekrar edilir

Tag'de hangi fiilin kullanılacağı cümledeki yardımcı fiile bağlıdır. Cümlede be, have ya da can, will, should gibi bir yardımcı ya da modal fiil varsa aynısı tag'de tekrar edilir: Emma can drive, can't she? The train will be on time, won't it? We haven't met before, have we?

  4. Do, does, did ödünç alınır

Cümlede yardımcı fiil yoksa, yani present simple ya da past simple ile kurulmuşsa, do, does ya da did ödünç alınır: You like spicy food, don't you? They went to the concert, didn't they?

  5. Özne ve tonlama

Tag'in öznesi her zaman cümlenin öznesine uyan bir zamirdir: The children are asleep, aren't they? Tonlama da anlamı değiştirir: tag'in sonunda ses düşerse konuşan cevabı bildiğini ve onay beklediğini, ses yükselirse gerçekten sorduğunu gösterir.

How to read this B1 topic

At B1, grammar links ideas: condition, result, reported meaning, experience, and narrative order.

1. Name the relationship

Ask whether the sentence gives a condition, contrast, cause, report, or result.

If it rains, we will stay home.

2. Separate time from aspect

Finished event, visible result, duration, and background action use different forms.

I had left before she arrived.

3. Test both clauses

In complex sentences, the second half often proves the first half.

I wish I knew.

Decision path before answering

Use these checks before choosing between close options.

  1. 1Mark the subject, main verb, object, and any connector.
  2. 2Underline the time expression or discourse clue.
  3. 3Reject any option with the wrong agreement, tense, article, pronoun case, or word order.
  4. 4Read the whole sentence once more for naturalness and register.

Contrasts that often decide the answer

Event or background

Simple forms move events forward; continuous forms show an action in progress.

I left while she was talking.

Fact or stance

Modals, hedges, and reporting structures show how certain or responsible the speaker sounds.

This may indicate a problem.

Clause or compressed phrase

Advanced writing often compresses full clauses into participle, noun, or prepositional phrases.

Having reviewed the data, we revised the plan.

Örnekler

  1. 1You have lived in this coastal city for several years, haven't you?
  2. 2David works as an electrical engineer at the local power plant, doesn't he?
  3. 3The weather was wonderful throughout our weekend camping trip, wasn't it?
  4. 4Your parents don't speak French, do they?
  5. 5We can park our car in front of the community center, can't we?
  6. 6She will definitely join us for Sunday afternoon dinner, won't she?
  7. 7The train arrives at platform four in ten minutes, doesn't it?
  8. 8You haven't seen my reading glasses anywhere on the desk, have you?
  9. 9They attended the international conference in London last autumn, didn't they?
  10. 10It is a lovely sunny morning today, isn't it?

İstisnalar

Üç kalıplaşmış istisna vardır. (1) I am ile tag aren't I olur: I'm right, aren't I? (2) Emir cümlelerinden sonra kibar bir istek için will you ya da would you gelir: Close the door, will you? (3) Let's ile kurulan önerilerden sonra shall we gelir: Let's take a break, shall we? Never, rarely, seldom, hardly ve nobody gibi olumsuz anlamlı kelimeler içeren cümleler olumsuz sayılır ve olumlu tag alır: He never drinks coffee, does he? Nobody called, did they?

Sık yapılan hatalar

  • Tag'de ana fiili tekrar etmek

    Hata

She speaks Spanish, speaks not she?

    Doğru

    She speaks Spanish, doesn't she?

  • Aynı kutbu kullanmak

    Hata

    You are tired, are you?

    Doğru

    You are tired, aren't you?

Onay beklerken olumlu cümleye olumsuz tag gelir. Türkçedeki sabit “değil mi?” her cümleye uyduğu için bu kutup kuralı atlanır.

  • I am için yanlış tag kurmak

    Hata

I am late, am not I?

    Doğru

    I'm late, aren't I?

  • Tag'de özneyi zamire çevirmemek

    Hata

Your brother lives in Ankara, doesn't your brother?

    Doğru

Your brother lives in Ankara, doesn't he?
