Object pronouns receive the action of a transitive verb or follow a preposition, replacing nouns to avoid repetition.
Object pronouns are used to replace nouns that receive the action of a transitive verb or follow a preposition. While subject pronouns perform the action, object pronouns receive it. Pronoun Pairing Matrix: I → me; You → you; He → him; She → her; It → it; We → us; They → them. Primary Syntactic Positions: (1) Direct and Indirect Objects of Verbs: The object pronoun stands immediately after the finite or non-finite transitive verb: "Maria called me yesterday", "I saw him at the station", "The teacher helped us with the exercise", "David invited them to dinner". (2) Objects of Prepositions: Whenever a pronoun follows a preposition (such as to, for, with, about, between, after, from), it must appear in the object form: "Listen to me", "This parcel arrived for you", "She came to the cinema with us", "I was thinking about him", "The secret is between you and me".

Pengecualian
Prepositional Coordination: In compound objects joined by and, both pronouns after a preposition must remain in the object case: "The conversation stayed between you and me" (never "between you and I"); "She handed the documents to my colleague and me" (never "to my colleague and I"). Informal Predicative Case: In colloquial conversational English, object pronouns follow the verb be: "Who is knocking at the front door? It's me" (standard spoken usage), while prescriptive "It is I" is confined to formal legal or historical texts.
Kesalahan umum
(1) Using subject pronouns after prepositions: "She came to the library with he." → "She came to the library with him." (Prepositions govern object pronouns). (2) Using subject pronouns as direct objects: "I phoned she this morning." → "I phoned her this morning." (Direct objects require her, him, me, them). (3) Hypercorrection in coordinate pairs: "The teacher praised John and I." → "The teacher praised John and me." (Praise governs the object me).
