On Saturday morning, the community centre will open its first repair cafe. Local will help fix small items instead of throwing them away. The event is free, but visitors are asked to book a place because the room is not large.
You can bring a lamp, a radio, a jacket with a broken zip, or a laptop that has become slow. The volunteers cannot promise that every item will be . However, they will explain the problem and show you any simple steps you can try at home. If a part must be , you will receive a note with the name of the part.
The cafe is also a chance to learn from neighbours. While people wait, short will show how to clean a keyboard, a button, and check a plug safely. Children may come with an adult, but they must stay at the same table as their family.
Booking opens on Monday at nine. You can call the centre or write your name at the front desk. Please bring only one item, so everyone has time with a volunteer. Large televisions and heavy furniture cannot be accepted. The last repair table closes at noon.
The hope the cafe will waste and help people feel more with everyday repairs. If this first morning is popular, the centre will run the cafe once a month. Tea and coffee will be served in cups, so please do not bring ones.
