Üç yeni araç
C1 düzeyinde koşul cümleleri üç yeni araçla zenginleşir: if'siz devrik koşul, gizli koşul ve koşul cümleciğinde will ya da would.
Devrik koşul
(1) Devrik koşul. Resmi yazıda if düşürülür ve yardımcı fiil öznenin önüne geçer. Had geçmişteki gerçek dışı koşulu (Had we known, we would have stayed), were şimdiki ya da gelecekteki gerçek dışı durumu (Were I in your position, I would resign), should ise olası ama pek beklenmeyen bir durumu anlatır (Should the flight be delayed, we will rebook you). Olumsuzda not öznenin arkasına gelir ve kısaltılmaz: Had it not been for the map, we would have got lost. “Hadn't it been” biçimi yanlıştır.
Gizli koşul
(2) Gizli koşul. Koşul ayrı bir cümlecik olarak söylenmez; bir edat öbeğinin ya da bağlayıcının içine yerleşir. But for ve without “… olmasaydı” anlamı taşır: But for her help, the project would have failed. Otherwise “aksi hâlde” demektir ve önceki cümleyi koşula çevirir: Leave now; otherwise, you'll miss the train. Provided that, as long as ve on condition that ise koşulu sınırlar: “yeter ki”.
Karma koşul
(3) Karma koşul. Geçmişteki bir olayın şimdiki sonucu (If I had taken that job, I would be living in Berlin now) ya da kalıcı bir özelliğin geçmişteki sonucu (If he were more patient, he wouldn't have shouted at them) aynı cümlede bağlanır. Türkçede “-saydı … olurdu” yapısı ikisini de karşıladığı için hangi zamanın geçmişe, hangisinin şimdiye ait olduğunu ayrıca düşünmek gerekir.

How to read this C1 topic
At C1, think like an editor: precision, cohesion, stance, information flow, and controlled formality.
1. Track reference
Pronouns, substitution, and ellipsis must point to something recoverable.
I liked the first plan, but not the second.
2. Identify stance
Hedging and modality show how strongly the writer commits.
This may suggest a wider trend.
3. Shape the focus
Clefts, inversion, and nominalization decide what the reader notices first.
It was the timing that surprised us.
Conditional patterns
Read both halves. The result clause often tells you which condition pattern is needed.
| Meaning | If-clause | Result clause | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| general truth | present simple | present simple | If water freezes, it expands. |
| real future | present simple | will + base verb | If it rains, we will stay. |
| imaginary present | past simple | would + base verb | If I knew, I would tell you. |
| imaginary past | past perfect | would have + participle | If I had known, I would have called. |
Contrasts that often decide the answer
Event or background
Simple forms move events forward; continuous forms show an action in progress.
I left while she was talking.
Fact or stance
Modals, hedges, and reporting structures show how certain or responsible the speaker sounds.
This may indicate a problem.
Clause or compressed phrase
Advanced writing often compresses full clauses into participle, noun, or prepositional phrases.
Having reviewed the data, we revised the plan.

İstisnalar
If'ten sonra will ve would kural olarak gelmez, ama iki durumda doğrudur, çünkü gelecek zamanı değil istek ya da ısrarı anlatır. Kibar ricada: If you would wait here for a moment, the doctor will see you shortly. Sinir bozucu bir ısrarı vurgulamak için, will vurgulu okunarak: If you will leave your phone on the table, people will read your messages.
