Simple word order

ルール

English fixes meaning by position. Subject, then verb, then object, and moving a word changes who did what.

覚えておこう

  • Subject before verb, object straight after: the dog chased the cat.
  • Nothing separates the verb from its object.
  • Manner, place and time come after, and usually in that order.

よくある落とし穴

Word order is not a stylistic choice here. Reversing subject and object produces a perfectly grammatical sentence with the opposite meaning.

力だめし
